Ineco will contribute its technical experience to the construction of the train in Gran Canaria (Canary Islands) through a three-year framework collaboration agreement that was signed on Thursday between the Chairman of Ferrocarriles de Gran Canaria and Vice-Chairman of the Inter-Island Council, Román Rodríguez, and the Chairman of Ineco, Fernando Palao, and which can be extended once it commences.

Both companies will collaborate by contributing their respective knowledge and capabilities in the analysis, definition of specifications, development, implementation and operation of the railway systems, which may be extended to all phases of the project, including the preliminary studies, design, execution of the works, integration of technological systems, start-up and operation and maintenance.

The parties will cooperate in the decision-making process, planning and task scheduling and in organising the actions required to carry out the railway projects in Gran Canaria, said Román Rodríguez, the Regional Minister of Economic Development, Public Works and Infrastructure and Transport of the Inter-Island Council of Gran Canaria, who highlighted the importance of the agreement in the implementation of the first phase of guided transport on the island, from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria towards the south and from the capital to Arucas in the north.

In order to coordinate the content of this agreement, the parties agree to set up a Joint Committee which will meet alternately and at least every six months in Gran Canaria.
