  • Work on the Port of Tarragona

The port authority of Tarragona has entrusted Ineco with different works, especially the remodelling of its railway access ways.

The port of Tarragona, managed by the Tarragona Port Authority, has grown steadily over the last decade thanks to the thriving chemical industry that has grown up in the vicinity and to the trade in other types of non-chemical freight.

Adaptation of the port to UIC railway gauge

Ineco has been working with the Port Authority since 2010 in activities related to environmental management, maintenance and especially to upgrading the rail accesses to adapt them to the UIC standard gauge which is being implemented throughout the entire Mediterranean Corridor. Tarragona was the first port served by this project to take the decision to implement the conversion in advance.

Thanks to the upgrading work performed by Ineco, arrivals to and departures from the port of complete full standard length trains is now possible.
