Ineco has been awarded three new contracts in Cape Verde framed in the modernisation and improvement process of the African country’s airports for the encouragement of tourism.

Thanks to these agreements with ASA (Aeroportos e Segurança Aérea), airport and air navigation manager of Cape Verde, Ineco will carry out the supervision for the extension works in the passenger terminals in the islands of Boavista and Sal, as well as the satellite-based air navigation procedures (GNSS) for the international airports of Boa Vista and São Vicente, besides developing master plans for local aerodromes, which will be used to plan the development of the country’s airport network and to ease the progress of tourism in the other islands in the archipelago.

These projects will mean a stimulus to a sector which currently represents up to the 25% of the total GDP of Cape Verde, and which is based on the country’s capacity to improve its energetic, transport, health and communication infrastructures. The Government’s goal is to reach one million tourists in 2015.

Its strategic location, in between America, Europe and continental Africa, has enhanced the rise of commerce and tourism in recent years. Spain is one of the main providing and investing countries in Cape Verde, both due to its geographical situation as well as for the touristic potential of the region. Around 40 companies are established in the country with an estimated investment of 26 million euros, most remarkably in the touristic sector, which makes us Cape Verde’s third supplier country.

Ineco collaborates with the local authorities since 2003 with projects such as the expansion and modernisation of the international airports of Boavista and Sal, or the renovation of the tread surface of Praia international Airport. Recently, Ineco has developed master plans for the four international airports of the country, a task for which the company draws from its long experience in Spain – working for Aena’s network- as well as abroad: Kuwait, Colombia, or Jamaica.
