Galileo to have an Information Centre in Mexico

Projects
Aeronáutico

Our company will participate in the creation of a Galileo Information Centre in Mexico that will support the entire Central American and Caribbean region. This European Commission (DEFIS) project aims to understand and monitor the local ecosystem of GNSS stakeholders, markets and initiatives; improve knowledge and understanding of European GNSS systems; foster adequate development of local human talent and expertise on European GNSS; facilitate local development of GNSS applications; and facilitate partnerships between EU and local counterparts.

There are other similar centres in other regions of the world and, in fact, Ineco is also present in the centre located in Brazil, positioning us as a world reference in satellite navigation and giving us the possibility of preparing and giving webinars, events and workshops; and supporting local stakeholders in their initiatives to develop services and applications based on this system.

Galileo is the European satellite navigation system developed by the European Union together with the European Space Agency, providing the European Union with an autonomous system that is independent of the American GPS, the Russian GLONASS and the Chinese BEIDOU, and unlike them, civilian in its creation, management and use. Put into initial operation on 15 December 2016, Galileo provides highly accurate positioning, navigation and timing signals, openly and free of charge, with no limit to the number of users and ensuring that signals are available anywhere in the world in real time. Our company is part of the industrial consortium of SpaceOpal GmbH, prime contractor of the European Satellite Navigation Agency (GSA) for the operation and maintenance of the Galileo system until the end of 2026.
