Ineco, the engineering and consultancy firm of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, has launched the new Horizon Programme, aimed at increasing awareness of gender-based violence and helping women who suffer it to enter the job market, thanks to collaboration with various associations that help victims.

The Minister of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, José Luis Ábalos, today presided over the signing of these collaboration agreements between the president of Ineco, Carmen Librero, and the representatives of the Eslabón Association, with its president, Ana Cristina Duque; and of the Association of Women United against Abuse (MUM), with its president, Carmen Benito.

Ábalos stated that the Horizon Programme against gender violence, which is being implemented after the signing of the agreements, will give women who have suffered the scourge of this type of violence the option of starting a new working and personal life.

In this regard, he stressed that at Ineco, these women will not only find decent, stable employment, but will also have a space where they can develop personally and professionally and will have all of the social and training resources that the company provides for its teams within their reach.

As the Minister explained, this is a framework of help and collaboration, which was created with the clear goal of strengthening the social and labour reinsertion of women who are victims of gender violence and which will have a supervisory committee that, starting tomorrow, will work actively to guarantee the success of this "Horizon Programme".

Ineco's president emphasised "any step, no matter how small, will represent great progress in the daily lives of many women who are victims of the scourge of gender violence. With the Horizon Programme, we are establishing the necessary collaboration channels to facilitate the integration of women who are victims of gender violence into the workplace, enabling them to return to a proper work environment that allows them to chart a new future. A future based on respect and freedom".

Horizon Programme

With this collaboration, Ineco is implementing a series of actions that will enable the company to raise awareness of gender equality, which is a goal it has been pursuing since the company's Equality Plan was launched in December 2019.

The Horizon action programme provides: 

- Access to women who are victims of gender violence as candidates in the selection processes that are initiated at Ineco, and which are suited to the experience and preparation required of them.

- Professional support from Ineco for these women so that victims of gender violence are accompanied by professionals who will enhance their social skills and personal growth.

- Training workshops to complement the areas of knowledge needed to access to the job world, such as job-search advice, employment tips, etc.

- Involvement in educational classrooms to inform school-age young people about the projects implemented in companies to promote gender equality and access by Ineco's professionals to the professional volunteer actions of associations that work with women who are victims of gender violence, thus raising awareness among the company's employees.

Commitment to Gender Equality

The creation of this new programme against gender-related violence is part of Ineco's Agenda 2030 and the 17 ODS, promoting actions that make gender equality a reality. Thanks to the collaboration agreement, the engineering and consultancy firm of the Mitma Group will support a group of women who are victims of gender violence, who are helped in their daily lives by the Eslabón and MUM associations.

An evolving programme that will continue to add future collaborations to achieve true gender equality.
