INECO was charged with providing technical assistance for the environmental follow-up and surveillance of the works as environmental management in the implementation phase. In addition, the company helped out with expropriation proceedings over the last two years.

The bridge over the Bay of Cádiz, the chief component of the new road access to the capital of the province, is now in use, and at 3,092 metres it has become the longest bridge in the entire Spanish road network. Furthermore, it boasts the largest span in Spain, with a main span of 540 metres, and holds second place for the biggest gauge in the world (69 metres).

The structure is divided into four interconnected sections, actually forming four separate bridges, each of them built using different constructive procedures and each with different technical features. The bridge will accommodate two lanes of traffic and a platform reserved for public transport (bus lane).

The new access afforded by this development will bring town planning improvements to the city of Cádiz by diversifying traffic. Until now, it was only possible to access the city via the El Puente Carranza motorway and the San Fernando highway.
