Work on the construction of the Silvertown Tunnel under the River Thames in London is progressing following the commissioning of the tunnel boring machine (TBM), which represents a step forward in the completion of this important project for London's road transport system.

Ineco, as an integral part of the project and construction of the tunnel, has been carrying out the work as Independent Certifier, in order to certify the execution of the works and compliance with the required specifications, through site inspections and continuous monitoring of the quality process during construction.

The Silvertown tunnel, whose route will run under the River Thames, will provide the city with greater permeability and communication between the banks of the river, as well as improvements in the use of public transport.

This is the first road infrastructure to be built to cross the Thames since 1991 and will increase public transport provision in this area of the city sixfold, helping to relieve congestion in the historic Blackwall Tunnel, which has been in service for over 120 years. Once again, Ineco shows its international leadership with its participation in largest road investment in that part of London in the last 30 years and includes the design and construction of twin 1.4-kilometer tunnels under the River Thames.
