Only collective and global action will be effective against climate change: this is the starting point of the campaign that the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment created in 2015 under the slogan “A million commitments to the climate”. Ineco has been in charge of developing the initiative with the special involvement of the Spanish Office of Climate Change, Ecodes, and the Fundación Biodiversidad. This citizen participation and awareness-raising campaign that aimed to gain the support of a million individuals and companies to contribute to the reduction of diffuse emissions of greenhouse gases, was developed in the months in the run-up to the Climate Summit held in Paris in December 2015, in which a historic worldwide agreement was reached to avoid global warming exceeding 2ºC by 2020.

Through the campaign’s website, any citizen or entity could endorse and share the commitments that they chose in the fight against climate change, so that the Spanish government could present them at the Summit.

Ineco managed the project, the design and development of the web platform, the linkage and mobilisation of the initiatives that were generated by the operators and managers of the transport infrastructure and the project of investigation, detection, definition and calculation of the reduction in the emissions of each commitment, as well as the good practice guide to minimise the emissions deriving from the execution of the design and its carbon footprint.
