Ineco has extensive experience in drawing up architectural designs as well as construction management and technical assistance for various kinds of stations.

Spanish commuter train networks (Cercanías) have the clear mission of providing transport services under the criteria of safety for passengers, quality, profitability, efficiency and innovation of their services, without forgetting the social purpose and commitment to the environment, such that use of the railway is encouraged.

Ineco has participated in the execution of accessibility plans and comprehensive plans for station improvement promoted by ADIF and Renfe-Viajeros, bodies that are part of the Ministry of Public Works, as major driving agents of collective transport by rail.

Spain has an extensive commuter train network operated by Renfe and Feve, as well as several autonomous operators such as FGC (Catalonia), FGV (Valencia), SFM (the Balearic Islands) and EuskoTren (Biscay and Gipuzkoa).

Since 2013, Ineco has been participating actively in the activities under Renfe’s Stations Plan. In the first stage, these collaborative activities have been regulated via individual contracting for each work or limited group of works.

In 2015 this system developed when a Framework Agreement was signed for the “Technical Assistance for Drawing Up Detailed Designs, Project Management and Health and Safety Coordination for works on stations managed by RENFE VIAJEROS, S.A. Execution of Stations Plan 2014 – 2015”.

New commuter train halt: Soto de Henares

On 22nd July 2013, the General Government Administration (AGE), the Madrid Regional Government (CAM) and the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council (AT) signed the “General Protocol for Collaboration between the General Government Administration, the Madrid Regional Government and the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council for the improvement and modernisation of railway connections in Torrejón de Ardoz”.

In this protocol, the General Government Administration, through Spain’s railway infrastructure administrator (ADIF) planned the construction of a new commuter train station in the suburb of Soto del Henares. The new station will be located on a plot connected to the railway line between kilometre points KP 26 + 400 and KP 26 + 700 of lines C2 and C7 of Madrid’s Suburban Railway between Torrejón de Ardoz and La Garena stations. The new station is located close to the new Torrejón hospital and the new residential developments of Soto del Henares, Mancha Amarilla, La Zarzuela, Saucar and Juncal, as well as Casablanca industrial park.

ADIF’s Associate Directorate of Maintenance and Operation of the Conventional Line Network entrusted Ineco with the drawing up of the detailed design and construction management for a Commuter Halt at Soto del Henares (Torrejón de Ardoz).

This new halt, the main building of which was made with a modular structure of gantries forming a free floor plan, which together with the potential for adaptation to different dimensions, forms a totally flexible system, adaptable to any size of commuter station. Within the area are distributed all uses of the building through independent buildable volumes (building within a building). The dimensions of the halt were chosen to serve 6,000 passengers a day, enabling easy subsequent expansion to service a larger number of passengers.

On 31st August 2015, the President of the Madrid Regional Government, Cristina Cifuentes, and the Ministry of Public Works, Ana Pastor, opened the new Madrid commuter stop of Soto del Henares, located in the city of Torrejón de Ardoz.
