The local authorities from Boa Vista have entrusted Ineco with the development of the expansion project for the airport terminal, among the complex´s other infrastructures.

The Boa Vista airport is the third most important in Cape Verde in terms of passenger numbers after those on the islands of Sal and Praia. The terminal building, finished in 2007, already lacks the capacity to satisfy the increasing demands of a rapidly growing tourist industry. For this reason ASA (Aeroportos e Segurança Aérea or the Cape Verde Airports Authority) entrusted Ineco with the task of extending the facility.

The airport adapts to the increasing passenger demand

The objective of the project, carried out entirely by Ineco in close cooperation with the local authorities, was to increase the capacity of the airport facilities.

The terminal building was extended by 5,322 m² of which 1,245 m² were devoted to arrivals and 4,087 m² to departures. The check-in area was also expanded to cater for 12 check-in counters plus 1 counter for special baggage. The current passport control posts and customs control stations were relocated, another baggage claim hall was added as well as and a new domestic arrivals zone.

In addition to extension of the terminal building Ineco managed the construction projects for extension of the airfields, the new terminal area and a bridge over the Ribeira Grande.

The Ineco team has been working on various projects for Boavista Airport since 2004 and always with one common denominator: the extreme care with which all phases of the projects are implemented in order to conserve the natural surroundings.
