Tenerife is committed to ecological and efficient transport systems, so has worked with Ineco on the development of a new light metro line.

Tenerife has developed its metropolitan transport network in order to improve mobility and the quality of life of its inhabitants without sacrificing environmental protection or efficiency in the transport. Therefore it has decided on a light urban rail system to connect the Island's two most important cities.

The new line is 12.5 kilometres long and has 21 stops, enabling the trams to maintain a transit frequency of one every five minutes per direction. In addition the travel time between terminals has been reduced to 36 minutes with the average tram speed of 20 km/h.

The light railway efficiently connects the island's two main cities, the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna.
