At the feet of the Alps, Torino celebrated the 20th Winter Olympic Games in 2006. To host the Olympic encounter, it not only faced an ambitious renovation works of its sport installations but also of its airport, 16 km away from the urban axis and one of the most important of the country due to its industrial, commercial and tourist activity.

A remodelling of magnitude

A total of seven works were carried out: Ineco developed the preliminary projects of the passenger terminal building’s expansion and the new general aviation terminal.

It drafted the preliminary and construction projects of the general aviation platform and the remodelling of a maintenance hangar; a new building for the automatic system of transport and baggage handling and the tunnels that communicate it with the terminal; a power station; walkways and connection links between the parking building and the terminal area as well as a new building for remote check in.


The airport was awarded in 2007 and 2008 for the quality of its services by the Airports Council International (ACI).

Throughout its history, Ineco has collaborated with Aena in the expansion or renovation of practically all the 47 airports in Spain, those with the most traffic included: Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona – El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga, Alicante, Tenerife Norte, Tenerife Sur, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Valencia…

The company has made important works in airports throughout the whole world: project management for the expansion of Kuwait International Airport (the biggest in its history); expansion of the flying field of Sangster airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica; a passenger terminal building at Boryspol, Odessa, and Simferopol in Ukraine; project management of Pristina airport in Kosovo; control tower for Bogotá airport in Colombia and expansion of Cali and Cartagena de Indias airports also in Colombia; a terminal area in Bamako, Mali; improvement of road surface at Lima airport in Peru; new flight runway at Santiago de Chile airport, Chile; expansion of flying field at Walvis Bay airport in Namibia; and works at Sal airport and expansion of Boa Vista airport, in Cape Verde.
