Ineco has participated in the Ripcord-Iserest project with the objective of improving roads security.

Between 2005 and 2007 Ineco took part in a European research project to improve safety on the roads, particularly secondary roads which have the highest accident mortality rates.

Along with sixteen other partners from fourteen countries Ineco participated in the RIPCORD-ISEREST programme (Road Infrastructure Safety Protection - Core-Research and Development for Road Safety in Europe; Increasing Safety and Reliability of Secondary roads for a sustainable Surface Transport).

The participants included private companies, universities, research institutions and road safety authorities.

Data Sheet
Location: European Commission
Client: 6th European Union Framework Programme
Execution period: 2005-2007
Market: Roads

This project was included in the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development which aimed to study and develop methods to make European roads safer. Among the activities carried out, the SEROES programme deserves a special mention. SEROES is an on-line application that provides registered users with different measures and proposals related to accident prediction models, road safety inspections and audits, road design, sustainability and the survey of accident blackspots.

Contributions from RIPCORD-ISEREST have also enabled subsequent European projects in which Ineco has also taken part. Pilot4safety (2010-2012) focussed on developing common training for all road safety inspectors and auditors.
