Sergio Vázquez Torrón, new president of Ineco

  • Until now, the Secretary General of Infrastructure will lead public engineering, key in promoting and managing the funds of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan

Sergio Vázquez Torrón (Lugo, 1975) has been ratified today as president of Ineco, engineering and consulting of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.

With the appointment of the new president, MITMA promotes and reinforces the management led by Ineco in the Technical Office to Support the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, integrating the experience and knowledge that the Galician economist will contribute, who has participated first-hand in the analysis of the investment programs associated with the European funds of the Next Generation program.

The president, who opens a new stage for the company, has valued the high potential and talent of the professionals who make up the company, assuming, as one of his first challenges, the promotion of actions that improve the environment of the teams' activity, as well as the deepening in the technological and organizational innovation processes to consolidate the national and international leadership of the company, promoting entrepreneurship and development of solutions that are committed to a more sustainable, safe and connected mobility, by the digitization of public services and cybersecurity.

The new president of Ineco thanked the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, for the trust placed in him, as well as the great work done by his predecessor in office, Carmen Librero.

A career dedicated to infrastructure and public policies

Vázquez Torrón has a Degree in Economics and Business from the University of A Coruña, Master's degree in Audiovisual Production and Management from the same University and IESE Leadership Program for Public Management.

His professional career has been linked to management in the field of infrastructure and transport and in the consulting field, as an economist, on public politics. He has been Secretary-General of Infrastructure, President of the Sociedad Estatal de Infraestructuras del Transporte Terrestre, SEITT (State Society of Land Transport Infrastructure) and Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, as well as advisor to the Minister of Housing and Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Development and Government Spokesman in the IX legislature.

He has also been, at the beginning of his professional career, consultant specialized in the audiovisual sector and has coordinated the economy and employment area of the Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Party).
