The Association of Civil Engineers has distinguished Ineco with the Rafael Izquierdo Solidarity Award for the IngenioSOS initiative, the professional corporate volunteer program that promotes engineering as a tool for social transformation. A recognition that values the social contribution of the company's professionals.

The president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, was in charge of collecting this award at a ceremony held at the Teatro Real in Madrid and organized by the Association of Civil Engineers Foundation. Vázquez Torrón highlighted the value of the IngenioSOS Program as an influence force in areas of high poverty and the solidarity capacity of Ineco's professionals involved to improving people's lives. In his speech, he also pointed out that "at Ineco we are going to promote those engineers who, in addition to knowledge, have the moral strength not only to change their world but all worlds".

Thanks to the IngenioSOS program, Ineco has been recognised with this Rafael Izquierdo Award for its "exemplary and relevant contribution to solidarity, turning Public Works, Transport, Water and the Environment into a driving force for actions against injustice, poverty and inequality".

IngenioSOS aims to improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups in disadvantaged countries. The fourth edition of this program is currently in the development phase, in which nearly 60 volunteers from the company have participated in collaboration with ten NGOs. Throughout these four editions, the 12 projects promoted have improved the quality of life of more than one million people in vulnerable situations in 10 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The almost 4,000 volunteer hours dedicated by Ineco's professionals have made it possible to provide technical support in the design and supervision of the projects developed, with Ineco financing 100% of the investment required to complete the projects and put them into service. Professionals from 13 different disciplines, ranging from civil engineers, computer, industrial and aeronautical engineers to architects and hydrologists, lead this volunteer work that has made it possible to provide drinking water to population centers, generate electricity using solar panels to supply hospitals, build schools to guarantee education for children and apply Ineco's specialisation in digitalisation to develop an app to help in the fight against ablation.

The Rafael Izquierdo Solidarity Award is a motivation to continue promoting engineering, innovation and digitalization as tools for service and social transformation.

Double recognition for Ineco

As part of the ceremony, the Agustín de Betancourt International Public Works Award was also presented to the Meca-Medina Consortium, of which Ineco is a member together with Adif and Renfe. The group of companies that make up the Consortium have made possible the High Speed Railway connection between the cities of Mecca and Medina, facing technical and management challenges that have been amply overcome, showing, once again, the world leadership of the Spanish railway industry.
