Javier Álvarez-Maldonado, Eastern Mediterranean Account Deputy Director, participated in the third session of the Mafex International Markets Forum. On this occasion, the conference focused on Saudi Arabia and was attended by more than 45 participants.

As part of a discussion with representatives of other leading engineering companies on the Spanish experience in this country, Javier Álvarez-Maldonado emphasised that: "The Haramain project has been one of the greatest challenges of my professional career, as it was an unknown challenge for me and for the company, given its scope and the special singularity of Ineco's role, responsible, among other tasks, for the management of a consortium made up of twelve Spanish companies and two Saudi companies".

Regarding the specific difficulties of working in Saudi Arabia, Álvarez-Maldonado emphasized that "while each country has its own particularities, they are not very different from those I have encountered in other Middle Eastern countries where I have worked. I note the importance of having a good local or international partner with previous experience on-site, who knows the environment well and opens doors for you, to be open to face new situations and other ways of doing and understanding things, as well as the importance of having the right people and equipment to do the work in a completely different environment".

Finally, he highlighted that "the efforts of the many people at Ineco who participated in the Haramain project and who are currently participating in it has been a turning point in the history of our company, making it a project that makes Spanish engineering proud on an international level".
