Juan Antonio Lago, Ineco Governance and Digital Consulting Expert, took part in a session dedicated to artificial intelligence governance in public administration.
Introducing AI into public administration requires more than simply adopting new technology. Aligning initiatives with citizen value from the outset, defining responsibilities, establishing clear criteria for AI use and monitoring outcomes are all essential to ensuring these tools help improve public services. These issues were at the heart of Ineco’s participation in the event “Check Point: AI in Public Administrations”, held in Madrid.
Juan Antonio Lago, Governance and Digital Consulting Expert at Ineco, took part in a session focused on AI governance in the public sector. His presentation drew on the company’s experience in digital transformation, automation and artificial intelligence projects, areas in which Ineco supports public bodies in enhancing their processes and services.
Among the key ideas presented were several of the principles that shaped the Impulsa IA initiative, together with practical considerations for designing a federated Centre of Excellence. Other topics included the management of value from the earliest stages of an initiative and its ongoing oversight throughout the portfolio management lifecycle. The importance of a clear and practical framework for implementing a Change Management model, addressing both human and organisational factors, was also highlighted as a critical success factor in the deployment and use of AI.
Governance provides the framework for determining what constitutes value for citizens and how artificial intelligence can be applied responsibly, securely and in compliance with relevant requirements, while harmonising the human and organisational context that is essential to success. This involves combining technological expertise with a deep understanding of the needs of public sector organisations and the people who will ultimately use these solutions.
Organised by cybersecurity company Check Point, the event brought together representatives from public administrations and industry specialists to exchange experiences and insights on the adoption of AI across the public sector.
