Since 2018, Ineco has been working closely with the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP) of Uruguay in the development of the Central Railway, a strategic infrastructure linking the port of Montevideo with the city of Paso de los Toros. The company began its involvement by providing technical support during the bidding phase, and since 2019 has taken on a comprehensive role in the project, offering specialized advice across various stages: design, construction, commissioning, and initial maintenance of the railway line. Furthermore, Ineco has provided key services in regulation, safety, and operational planning, emphasising the design and implementation of the future Centralised Traffic Control System (CTC). This ambitious project involves the rehabilitation of 273 kilometers of railway track and represents a milestone in the modernisation of the national rail system, particularly enhancing the transportation of goods from the interior of the country to the capital port. Its implementation is part of the national logistics improvement programme, which aims for an efficient integration of the railway with the road network and the Uruguayan port system.
