Ineco drives Adif's project in the development of the Atocha Railway Complex with a multidisciplinary team at the service of one of the largest railway projects in Europe. With more than 170 years of history, this station is a symbol for Madrid and for all of Spain. In this context, our company has played a key role in its evolution, participating since 2002 in numerous projects that cover all technical disciplines: construction, civil works, railway and non-railway installations, track, catenary or control systems, among others.
Currently, Ineco remains a leading player in the transformation of this strategic hub. Among the ongoing projects, the ambitious new through station beneath Mendez Álvaro Street stands out, significantly increasing the complex's capacity and enabling full operation of the high-speed underground connection between Chamartín and Atocha.
Since February 2023, Ineco has been leading the Coordination Technical Assistance (CTA) for the complex's construction works. This work is carried out by a multidisciplinary team that has involved more than 80 professionals from 24 different specialities. The objective: to ensure coordination between all the works, avoid interferences, ensure the operation of the station, and provide specialised technical support for each of the actions.
One of the most powerful tools in this process is working with the BIM methodology, with the development of a federated model that integrates everything from the initial situation to the final execution of all the works. This technological approach is key to efficiently managing an environment as complex as Atocha.
The development of the Atocha-Almudena Grandes station will be decisive for the future of High-Speed Rail in Spain. It will allow for a response to the foreseeable increase in demand and enhance the connection between the northern peninsula and the rest of the network. For Ineco, contributing to the growth of this railway hub means actively participating in one of the largest European projects in the field of passenger terminals, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable mobility and the general interest.
