Name

Santiago Bernal Romero

But... what do they call you at home?

Santi

What do you do at Ineco?

I work in Projects, works and Maintenance of Level Crossing protection systems in the Railway Signalling and Land Telecommunications Sub-Directorate of the Railway Signalling Area Management. We are currently a client in the Sub-Directorate of Level Crossings and Protection and Safety Installations (Adif).

When did you join the company?

I joined the company in February 2019. Since then, I have had the opportunity to participate in different projects and to work with very talented and committed people. I feel very fortunate to be part of this team and to contribute to the success of the company in whatever way I can.

You have won the 2023 Spanish Railway Sector Golf Cup in Scratch mode. What does this mode consist of?

Scratch golf is a competition on equal terms, without handicap, in which the player with the lowest number of strokes on the course wins. It is a very demanding and competitive modality that requires a high level of technique and skill to be able to compete in it.

How did your love of golf start?

My love for golf started at a very early age. When I was only eight years old, my father took me to a golf course for the first time and from that moment on, I was fascinated by the sport. I liked the feeling of being outdoors, surrounded by nature, and the thrill of trying to hit a small ball into a hole in the ground.

What does this hobby bring to you on a personal and professional level?

Golf has taught me values such as discipline, perseverance and respect for others and the environment. It has also given me the opportunity to meet interesting people and to travel to different places to play golf courses all over the world. In short, golf has been a big part of my life for many years and I am very grateful for all that it has given me.

What would you highlight about the company?

I would highlight its values: commitment, integrity, collaboration and people development. The company encourages teamwork, continuous training and diversity, which makes it a very enriching and motivating environment to work in.
