Ineco carries out the project management and works supervision of the enlargement of Fujairah Airport in the United Arab Emirates. The airport, which began to operate in October 1987, has the capacity to manage around two million annual passengers. Fujairah is currently immersed in a plan to develop tourism in the region.

The works, which are carried out alongside PMDC (Project Management and Design Consultants), include the enlargement of the current runway, the construction of a new control tower and a new taxiway that could be used as a contingency runway, as well as an electrical substation and a new Firefighting Service building, in addition to new navigation aids.

The project consists of two phases. In the first phase, the revision of the basic design is carried out. Ineco’s multidisciplinary team analyses and evaluates the solutions proposed by the designer and adviser to Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) in its approval process.

In the second phase, Ineco will have the responsibility of revising the building project described and developing the Project Management and Supervision of the execution of works. Furthermore, the company will accompany Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) from the process of selection of the companies that will execute the enlargement works, continuing with the Project Management and Supervision of the execution of the works and the implementation of the enlargement.

The project includes several areas of knowledge: civil work and building construction projects, air navigation systems, Control Tower equipment, facilities and beaconing, as well as the implementation of all of the tools and methodologies of the Project Management Institute (PMI) for management of the project.
