Three cyclists, 400 kilometres and a message that keeps moving forward: the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) continues, and every pedal stroke counts. The 5th edition of the BiciclELA challenge has connected Madrid and Valencia this year, demonstrating that solidarity also travels on two wheels. Organised by Ineco, the Fundación para el Desarrollo y la Integración, y la Asociación Española de Esclerosis Lateral Amiotrófica (adELA, the challenge has not only once again mobilised the participants, but has also fostered a network of commitment that grows year after year.
Since its first edition, BiciclELA has contributed to improving the lives of people affected by this disease, raising nearly 30,000 euros to support the work of adELA. This association plays a crucial role by providing home and on-site care assistance, nursing care, personalised advice, social guidance, training for carers and family members, as well as adapted cultural activities. All this with a clear objective: to improve the quality of life of patients and their environments, in a complex and demanding process such as living with a disease that today affects more than 3,000 people in Spain.
The continuity of BiciclELA for five consecutive years highlights the value of initiatives that stem from sustained commitment. Along this journey, Ineco has been a steadfast partner, contributing not only resources but also the active involvement of its professionals. BiciclELA is not just a sporting challenge; it is a testament to collective effort and hope on wheels.
