Moving from demonstrations to services that can become part of everyday life is one of the major challenges facing drone-based air mobility. Ineco contributed its expertise in this field at two events held in Málaga: the Institutional Advisory Board meeting of the European project VERTI-GO and the first edition of the Málaga IAM Open Forum.

Víctor Gordo, Ineco’s expert in Communication, Navigation and Surveillance Systems and Air Traffic Management (CNS-ATM), represented the company at both events, where he addressed the challenges of integrating these aircraft into airspace and advancing towards routine operations from the perspective of an engineering company specialising in air navigation and drone integration.

From Demonstration to Service

During the VERTI-GO industry panel, moderated by ENAIRE and featuring representatives from AERTEC, Bluenest and CATEC, Víctor Gordo discussed the gap that still exists between demonstration projects and regular innovative air mobility operations.

The challenge lies in transferring the progress achieved through test flights into an environment where new aircraft can provide real services and coexist safely with other airspace users.

Ineco is a member of the VERTI-GO Institutional Advisory Board, which brings together public authorities, companies, universities and organisations from across the sector to guide the project’s work and anticipate the requirements for its deployment.

This European initiative aims to develop and validate procedures for integrating electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and cargo drones into the existing aviation system, with demonstration activities planned in Andalusia.

The Potential of Aerial Logistics

Later in the day, the Málaga IAM Open Forum brought these emerging forms of mobility closer to the public and opened discussion on their potential applications.

During the panel on drone-based aerial logistics, the Ineco expert explored the main barriers to the development of these services. The transport of goods by drone offers new possibilities for connectivity and distribution. Turning those possibilities into reality requires addressing key questions such as how flights will be organised, how they will be integrated into the airspace and what conditions are needed to ensure safe and continuous operations.

Through its participation in both events, Ineco is helping to foster dialogue between institutions and industry while placing its expertise in drones and air navigation at the service of a shared goal: transforming the potential of these technologies into practical services that deliver benefits for society.
