Ineco behind Spain’s New Single Public Transport Pass Transforming Mobility

February 2, 2026

Spain is taking a decisive step towards sustainable and accessible mobility with the launch of the new single public transport pass. This pioneering initiative by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility is backed by technical support from Ineco, which has been involved from the outset in the design, operational feasibility and legal framework, as well as in the technological aspects of the system that have made its implementation possible.

The new pass allows unlimited travel for 30 days on Cercanías and Rodalies commuter trains, conventional medium distance rail services and state run bus services, at an affordable price of €60, with a reduced fare of €30 for under 26s.

Strategic consulting and engineering in the public interest

Ineco has worked alongside the Ministry from the strategic proposal phase, leading the operational, legal and economic feasibility analyses and ensuring interoperability between different operators and modes of transport. In addition, it has defined the operational aspects of the new pass, gathered public feedback through social consultations and contributed to the development of its regulatory framework.

This highly complex and unprecedented integration project represents a milestone in the field of mobility, consolidating all state run public transport systems into a single pass, improving connectivity and simplifying the user experience.

A further step towards integrated, people centred mobility

The new pass transforms the way people move across the country, enabling citizens to use multiple modes of transport without restrictions. This measure strengthens multimodal mobility, promotes the use of public transport and directly contributes to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and Spain’s mobility decarbonisation goals.

Ineco has developed numerous plans and solutions to improve urban and interurban public transport. Its engineering and consulting work has been instrumental in railway integration projects, the modernisation of commuter rail networks, sustainable mobility initiatives and intelligent transport systems, both in Spain and in countries across Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

This initiative reinforces Ineco’s role as a strategic partner in the transformation of the public transport system, thanks to its comprehensive vision, technical expertise and commitment to more efficient, safe and sustainable mobility.
