Our company is playing a key role in the development of a guide of recommendations for the safe and effective use of drones in the port sector.

The initiative, driven by Puertos del Estado, aims to standardise criteria and enhance operational safety in the 28 Port Authorities of the state port system through the creation of a common reference document that allows maximising the advantages of unmanned aerial systems.

During the month of June, Ineco technicians carried out an exhaustive information-gathering task on the current situation of drone use in Spanish ports. This analysis has culminated in the presentation of a status report that includes the different operational applications, organisational models, and specific needs identified in each Port Authority.

The next milestone of the project will be the drafting of the recommendations document, which will be developed over several working sessions with a technical group made up of representatives from all the Port Authorities, coordinated by Puertos del Estado. These sessions will allow for the agreement on common criteria, the exchange of experiences, and the establishment of the foundations for what will be the future Guide for the use of drones in ports, which is scheduled for publication in December 2025.

In addition to the preparation of the document, future steps could include monitoring the practical application of these recommendations, as well as the evaluation of new technologies and uses, including port protection and the use of underwater drones, opening the door to a new range of innovative solutions in port environments.

With this project, Ineco strengthens its commitment to the technological transformation of the logistics-port sector, contributing its technical expertise and coordination capacity to the service of a safer, more modern, and connected port network.
