Within the framework of the 9th Business Forum between the European Union (EU) and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held in Kuwait, Ineco has reinforced its commitment to sustainable mobility and international connectivity, highlighting the fundamental role of the aviation sector in the economic and social development of the Gulf region.
Ángel Toro, Ineco's project manager for Kuwait International Airport, took part in the New Avenues for Cooperation round table held at the Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre and stressed that "Airports and aviation networks are fundamental drivers for the diversification of the aviation sector.Airports and aviation networks are key drivers of economic diversification, regional connectivity and sustainable development, so strengthening ties between the EU and the Gulf Cooperation Council can strengthen resilience". Specifically, such cooperation can boost "supply chains, tourism, promote technological innovation and accelerate the transition to greener and more efficient aviation".
In addition, Toro shared his vision on the need for "greater regulatory alignment, joint infrastructure investments and shared training programmes to create a more integrated, sustainable and resilient aviation ecosystem in the face of future crises. Strategic collaboration between the two regions is critical to address global challenges and seize opportunities for growth in the aviation sector."
Commitment to Gulf aviation infrastructure
Ineco has been involved since 2018 in the design and supervision of the expansion of Kuwait International Airport, a flagship infrastructure designed to serve up to 25 million passengers per year. The company is leading the integrated management of the project, which includes the management of the construction contract, airport systems and the coordination of all phases of execution. The complex stands out for its sustainable design, inspired by the shape of a sailboat, and is set to become one of the world’s most energy-efficient terminals.
The 9th EU-GCC Forum, under the theme "Together for Shared Prosperity", brought together institutional, business and investor leaders from both regions, with the aim of promoting dialogue, creating strategic alliances and exploring new opportunities for cooperation in key sectors such as energy, digitalisation, infrastructure and transport.
