Ineco hosted the third meeting of the Advisory Council for the future Chip Innovation Centre project in Málaga this Thursday, a strategic infrastructure framed within the PERTE Chip, which seeks to strengthen Spain's technological leadership in the field of semiconductors.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC), and Ineco, in a workspace that continues to establish itself as a key forum for strategic decision-making and the identification of new collaboration opportunities.

The president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, welcomed the attendees, highlighting the importance of this project in consolidating an innovative ecosystem with an international vocation.

During the day, the Council members discussed the project's progress and the next development phases, following the recent information session where the preliminary market consultation for the design and construction of the future centre was presented. This initiative reinforces the commitment to a cutting-edge infrastructure that promotes applied research, technological transfer, and talent attraction.

The centre in Málaga will be the first that IMEC establishes outside its country of origin, Belgium, highlighting the strategic dimension of this alliance. This infrastructure will enable Spain to advance in technological sovereignty and position itself as an essential node in the global semiconductor value chain, key to the country's digital transformation and industrial autonomy.
