Ineco will be part of the advisory team led by Ramboll, which has been selected by Transport Canada to provide technical expertise for the development of the High-Speed Rail (HSR) initiative.
The project envisages the creation of an almost 1,000-kilometre corridor linking Toronto and Quebec City, connecting millions of people across Canada. It is the largest infrastructure project ever undertaken in the country and is set to redefine intercity mobility nationwide. The new network will significantly reduce journey times and strengthen connectivity between major urban centres, creating new economic opportunities and improving quality of life for citizens.
Drawing on its extensive expertise in engineering and transport, Ineco will support Transport Canada in achieving the project’s objectives. The initiative will be delivered through a collaborative approach involving Transport Canada, VIA Rail and ALTO, the public corporation responsible for developing and implementing the high-speed rail network, together with its private-sector partner, Cadence.
The project comes at a time of growing momentum for rail transport in Canada, where high-speed rail is increasingly recognised as a solution for improving the efficiency and sustainability of the transport system. It also further strengthens Ineco’s presence in Canada, where the company has previously provided consultancy services on railway regulation.
International expertise supporting the development of new high-speed rail networks
Ineco’s involvement in the ALTO High-Speed Rail programme builds on an international track record that has established the company as a trusted partner for countries developing or expanding their high-speed rail networks. Leveraging the experience gained through one of the world’s most advanced railway systems, the Spanish engineering and consultancy company helps transfer this expertise to strategic projects that transform mobility and drive economic and regional development.
One of the most recent examples is Vietnam, where Ineco is part of the international consortium advising the government on the development of the country’s first high-speed rail line. At this crucial stage of the project, the company is contributing its expertise to define the technical and operational requirements of an infrastructure that is expected to become the backbone of Vietnam’s transport system for decades to come.
The company is also involved in Poland, where it advises the state-owned company CPK on the development of the so-called Polish “Y” line, the core of the country’s future national high-speed rail network. Its work includes specialist consultancy in areas such as tunnels, rolling stock, railway operations, electrification, signalling and telecommunications, helping to implement the highest international standards of safety, efficiency and sustainability.
This experience complements Ineco’s involvement in landmark projects such as the Haramain High-Speed Railway in Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s largest high-speed rail lines. There, the company has delivered supervision, technical assistance, and operational and maintenance support services for the infrastructure linking Makkah and Madinah.
In addition, Ineco is carrying out railway projects in other strategic markets, including Uruguay, where it is contributing to the modernisation and transformation of the national railway system to promote a more efficient, sustainable and connected transport model.
With a presence across five continents and more than 130 ongoing projects in 34 countries, Ineco continues to strengthen its position as a global ambassador of Spanish railway expertise, supporting the development of new high-speed rail networks and the implementation of safer, more efficient and more sustainable mobility solutions worldwide.
