The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility visited Ineco’s stand
Ineco was one of the key players at Rail Live 2025, the leading international trade fair that annually brings together all stakeholders in the global railway value chain. The event, held in Madrid, attracted more than 9,000 professionals from over 70 countries and featured more than 300 exhibiting companies.
Spain’s Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, inaugurated the fair and visited Ineco’s stand to learn firsthand about the company’s work to drive the digital transformation of railways worldwide. Ineco stands out for its expertise in ERTMS, the European Train Control and Protection System, where it is a benchmark with a team of 50 specialists who have been researching, developing, and implementing this system for nearly 25 years.
During his visit, Puente was accompanied by Ineco’s team at the fair and by the company’s president, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, who later spoke at the conference program. He highlighted that “Spain is a reference case study due to its diverse scenarios, cost efficiency, scale, growing demand, and competitiveness among operators.” Vázquez also stressed the industry’s challenges, such as “infrastructure resilience in the face of climate change, financing, keeping costs under control, and improving cross-border connectivity within Europe.”
Strategic Contribution to a Digital and Interoperable EU Rail Network
The recent publication of the European Union’s High-Speed Rail Plan has underscored the sector’s role in developing systems that will enable a truly interoperable European railway network. At the event, Ineco emphasized its key role in deploying ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) both in Spain and across Europe. The engineering firm has spent more than 25 years researching, developing, and implementing this safety and control system, which will make a common European rail space possible.
In this context, Ineco experts Silvia Domínguez and Alfonso Lorenzo participated as speakers in the technical sessions held during the fair.
Ineco also highlighted its contribution to initiatives related to future railway communication systems, which will increase capacity, improve operational efficiency, and further raise safety standards across the network.
Ready for Future Challenges
Throughout Rail Live 2025, the company reaffirmed its commitment to tackling the major challenges facing the sector: accelerating digitalisation, combating climate change, adapting infrastructure to more demanding scenarios, and addressing the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence on operations and maintenance.
