Sergio Vázquez Torrón has highlighted the strong presence of Ineco in the Greek airport sector
The president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, has reaffirmed the company's commitment to the development of strategic infrastructures in the Hellenic country, within the framework of the official visit to Greece by a delegation from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility headed by the State Secretary for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, José Antonio Santano, and also including the president of Adif, Luis Pedro Marco de la Peña. The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Greek government and Spain to promote cooperation in the railway sector.
Sergio Vázquez Torrón highlighted Ineco's strong presence in the Greek airport sector, where he leads the design of the new Kasteli International Airport on the island of Crete. This infrastructure, with an initial capacity for 10 million passengers, is set to become the main air gateway of the country. Its opening is scheduled for 2027 and will represent a milestone for the connectivity and the tourist and economic development of Greece. Ineco also aims to be a significant player in the modernisation of the Greek railway system, thanks to its renowned experience in the planning, design, and management of railway networks, developed over decades in Spain and already exported to five continents. As the president pointed out: "Our capabilities and experience in strategic consultancy can help Greece successfully tackle the transformation of its railway sector." An initiative in which we are already accompanying them with the design of the new Kasteli airport in Crete, which will be key for the country's air mobility.
The Spanish delegation has held bilateral meetings with the main Greek officials in the areas of Infrastructure and Economy. In these meetings, the commitment of both countries to collaborate on improving connectivity, developing high-speed rail corridors, and meeting the European Union's climate objectives has been reaffirmed.
