Anna Sánchez Álvarez, Ineco’s Territorial Manager for Catalonia and Conventional Network Maintenance Manager, presented a review of the first five years of the plan.
Representatives from across the railway sector have discussed the updated Rodalies de Catalunya Plan at a specialised industry event, which increases the planned investment to €8.037 billion, representing a 27% rise compared with the original programme.
During the event, Anna Sánchez Álvarez, Ineco’s Territorial Manager for Catalonia and Network Maintenance Manager for the Conventional Rail Network, presented a review of the plan’s first five years and outlined progress in infrastructure, stations, accessibility, urban integration and rolling stock. She also highlighted the key developments included in the 2026 update, recently approved, which introduces a new programme for stabling tracks and maintenance depots. This initiative is considered essential to ensuring the operation and upkeep of the new train fleet.
The presentation underlined the importance of long-term planning in delivering a railway network that is more reliable, resilient and better equipped to meet the region’s mobility needs in the years ahead.
