Spain's small towns are redoubling their commitment to Ineco RuralTIC, the pioneering social and economic digitalisation programme developed by Ineco, the engineering and consultancy firm of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda. A total of 90 Spanish municipalities have signed up for this second edition of the Ineco RuralTIC 2.0 programme through which the company's digital nomads work remotely from towns with less than 10,000 inhabitants.

This figure represents a doubling of the territorial scope of this initiative which, from next November, will reach 13 autonomous communities and 31 provinces, compared to the 6 and 15 achieved in the first edition. The programme will allow Ineco's digital nomads to combine their daily professional lives with activities that promote local digitalisation, based on the needs expressed by the local inhabitants and SMEs. Its digitalisation activity will thus be able to reach nearly 187,000 people.

Ineco RuralTIC 2.0 will start in November with the first municipalities, and will progressively develop over the coming months until it reaches all the registered municipalities, which can be checked at this link.

Social and economic digitalisation

Ineco RuralTIC is based on two main lines of action thanks to Ineco's knowledge in the field of digitalisation.
The first axis lies in social digitalisation, with training and support in the use of new technologies for the inhabitants of rural areas, with a special focus on the older people.

The second axis lies in economic digitalisation, provides support and advice to the rural business fabric, through digital positioning, with support for the creation of online services or improving existing ones, or with tools to improve the presence in social networks, among other actions.

350 workshops during the last edition

Ineco RuralTIC 2.0 is the new edition of this programme which, in its first edition, has managed to reach 39 municipalities thanks to 61 digital nomads who, in stages, travelled nearly 60,000 kilometres. This work has led to almost 350 digitalisation workshops with 2,300 participants and 252 SMEs throughout the country.
