Regulation to be better

Ineco has positioned itself as a relevant travelling companion of the  General Administration of the State( AGE) in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in Europe, after supporting SEDIA in the development of the world's first regulation on the uses of artificial intelligence.

The Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (SEDIA) of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Public Function counted on our support for the drafting of the international Artificial Intelligence Regulation for the European Union. A document setting out its limits, the protection of citizens' fundamental rights and participation in its governance, while guaranteeing the competitiveness of our companies.

For this, a risk-based approach was used, where the main idea is to regulate AI based on the latter's capacity to cause harm to society: the higher the risk, the stricter the rules. In the case of systems with risks deemed unacceptable, their use will be totally prohibited, e.g. cognitive behavioural manipulation or indiscriminate tracking of facial images taken from the internet.

This new regulation is twofold: it also seeks to stimulate investment and innovation in the field of AI in Europe. In addition, the creation of the Commission's AI Office has been announced, which will be responsible for monitoring Member States' implementation of the new regulations, overseeing state-of-the-art AI models and helping to promote standards and testing practices.

Participating in this project underlines the commitment of our company, which has been using artificial intelligence for more than a decade, both in projects for clients and in developing its own solutions.
