The Spanish Railways Foundation has hosted the presentation event of the video "Niñas al Tren de la Ciencia y la Tecnología", an initiative aimed at highlighting the role of women in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and encouraging scientific vocations among young girls. It features the participation of the Railway Business Director, Montserrat Álvarez.
Among the prominent voices of the day was Marisa de Castro,Training and Talent Development Manager and Head of Equality at Ineco.
During her participation in the panel discussion "STEM Talent for the Railway: Future Challenges", she shared her vision on the current and future challenges to achieve greater equality of opportunities between women and men in the traditionally male-dominated railway sector. Her participation has been key in highlighting Ineco's commitment to attracting and developing female talent, especially in technical and innovation areas, noting that the company has already achieved that of the 68% of STEM qualifications it holds, 40% correspond to women. It can be predicted that the professional ambition and STEM vocations in girls are changing and they are increasingly showing more interest in technical careers. As we progress as a society, we also have more female role models who, undoubtedly, through their example, open the door for girls to be whatever they want to be, also in these disciplines," she stated.
With this participation, Ineco strengthens its role as an active agent in promoting equality and inclusion in the STEM field.
