Ineco will play a key role in supporting the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility in the rollout of new service areas equipped with ultra‑fast electric charging stations across Spain’s State Road Network (RCE).
Based on the locations defined by the Ministry, Ineco has carried out a forward‑looking analysis of electric vehicle demand at each site, assessing projected fleet growth, traffic flows and charging needs over the short, medium and long term. This study ensures that the facilities are properly sized and guarantees their operational sustainability. Building on this work, the company has drawn up the corresponding economic and financial feasibility studies to structure concession contracts that are both viable and attractive to private investors, ensuring a balance between profitability, quality of service for users and public decarbonisation objectives.
Ineco has also prepared the preliminary designs that will provide the technical basis for the tendering of future concession contracts, defining the functional layout of the service areas, their integration into the road infrastructure, and the technical requirements for the ultra‑fast charging installations.
These efforts fall within the government‑approved programme for the construction of eight new service areas along strategic corridors, including the A‑2, A‑3, A‑4, AP‑7 and A‑8, with a combined estimated investment of €94.5 million. These projects constitute a pilot initiative to promote electric mobility on the state network and advance the decarbonisation of road transport.
With this project, Ineco strengthens its position as a strategic in‑house resource for the Spanish General State Administration and as a benchmark in planning, demand analysis, concession structuring and the development of sustainable infrastructure. The combination of engineering and consultancy expertise enables the transformation of public planning into actionable projects that accelerate the transition towards cleaner, more efficient and more resilient mobility.
