The King’s visit also serves to showcase cooperation between Spain and Costa Rica in the field of infrastructure.
José Antonio Pernas, Manager of Ineco’s America Account Deputy Directorate, has taken part in an institutional audience in Costa Rica. The meeting coincided with the visit of His Majesty King Felipe VI, who attended the official ceremonies marking the handover of presidential office.
Present in Costa Rica since 2008, the company has delivered projects worth a total of €15 million. It currently acts as the executing agency for two of the country’s main infrastructure development programmes: the Transport Infrastructure Programme (PIT) and the Road Infrastructure and Public–Private Partnership Promotion Programme (PIV-APP). Both are financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and are implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT).
Since 2016, Ineco has been responsible for the comprehensive management of these projects, covering planning, coordination and supervision across technical, administrative, legal and environmental areas. The aim is to improve the country’s road and port networks, reduce travel times and enhance transport safety.
The King’s visit also highlights the cooperation between Spain and Costa Rica in the field of infrastructure, as well as the role of Spanish public companies in strategic development projects across Latin America.
