Madrid has become a hub of applied innovation during the technological sovereignty hackathon organised by Ineco, an event that brought together 50 participants across eight multidisciplinary teams with the aim of designing technology solutions focused on the public interest.
Held at Talent Garden, the event gathered young talent from public universities alongside professionals from different areas of Ineco. The day began with inspiring talks from our experts Raúl Renales and María José de la Vega, who shared their perspectives on the importance of digital autonomy and data protection. Participants then worked using agile methodologies and design thinking to tackle a common challenge: to build and prototype a technologically sovereign solution capable of reducing external dependencies and addressing real needs of public administrations and organisations of general interest, with tangible and measurable impact.
Throughout the day, teams developed proposals linked to areas such as artificial intelligence, information security, public service efficiency and the responsible use of technology, in a collaborative environment that encouraged knowledge exchange between academia and industry.
The event concluded with the presentation of solutions before a jury made up of members of Ineco’s Innovation Committee, including the company’s President, who selected three finalist projects that will now move on to a final voting phase among Ineco professionals.
Driving innovation during Open Gov Week
The hackathon also provided an opportunity to introduce young students to Ineco’s commitment to open innovation and collaboration between business, academia and talent, during the Open Gov Week. This global initiative, promoted by the Open Government Partnership (OGP), aims to bring public administrations closer to citizens through the principles of transparency, participation, public integrity and collaboration.
