Un instante de la reunión
Our company received a visit from Richard Goodman, Director General for Rail Reform and Strategy at the British Government, as part of an institutional trip organized by the British Embassy. The aim was to gain first-hand knowledge of the Spanish railway system, with a particular focus on the cost efficiency of high-speed rail, infrastructure interoperability, and the experience gained in public-private partnership models.
Ineco's president, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, welcomed Richard Goodman, who was able to learn about the company's extensive experience in the railway sector, both in Spain and abroad. The Ineco team discussed the contributions that the Spanish model can make to the transformation that the British government is carrying out in the railway sector, as well as its expert knowledge, which is key to promoting large-scale projects. In addition, the formula that has enabled the Spanish high-speed model to become a benchmark was also presented.
Among the most relevant aspects highlighted were the agile and efficient management of the planning and design stages; the ability to address contractual and resource management issues; and an effective approach to dividing projects into engineering and construction lots adapted to the capacity of the market at any given time.
The visit also served to review Ineco's solid presence in the United Kingdom, where the company has been working on flagship projects for more than two decades. It has participated in defining track maintenance strategies for HS1 and in the preliminary design, up to parliamentary approval, of the first phase of HS2 between London and Birmingham, as well as in environmental impact and design studies for phase 2B. It has also carried out passenger modeling work at Old Oak Common station and various electrification contracts with Network Rail.
It is currently participating in the RSSI systems integration contract, in collaboration with Atkins and Systra. The meeting has strengthened institutional and technical ties between Spain and the United Kingdom and highlighted the capacity of Spanish companies to lead major international projects.
