Alfonso Lorenzo, ERTMS manager at Ineco, has been one of the key figures at the 9th International Railway Convention, an internationally renowned event organised by Mafex with the support of ICEX and the Government of Spain. The convention, held from May 19 to May 21 in Seville, brought together more than a hundred leaders, experts, and companies from the global railway sector.

During the technical sessions dedicated to the train of the future and intelligent infrastructure, Alfonso Lorenzo shared with the attendees the latest advances that Ineco is promoting in the deployment of the ERTMS system and in the automation of the analysis of train-track compatibility tests. This intervention highlighted the strategic value of the company in developing innovative solutions that optimise railway operations through technologies such as ATO (Automatic Train Operation) and positioning enhancement systems (ASTP).

One of the main focuses of his intervention was the need to reduce the number of compatibility tests at the European level, as well as the use of modular automation techniques to shorten analysis times, reduce costs, and minimise errors. He also presented a pioneering work in the characterisation of odometric error and its impact on the reliability of railway service, thus reinforcing Ineco's vision as a driver of digital transformation in the railway sector.

Ineco boasts nearly 25 years of expertise in the research, development, and deployment of the ERTMS system, with significant projects across Spain and throughout Europe. Her active participation in key working groups at a continental level (such as the Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking (ERJU) programme or the core group of the system pillar) has consolidated her role as a benchmark in the future harmonisation and standardisation of railway control, command, and signalling systems. This trajectory has positioned the company as a true pioneer in the sector.
