Infra and Ineco Mark a Decade of Brazil’s National Transport and Logistics Observatory

October 8, 2025

The National Transport and Logistics Observatory of Brazil celebrates a decade of achievements. Ineco was a key player in the creation of this project, which today has established itself as a decisive tool for the planning and sustainable development of the country's logistics infrastructure.

The ONTL was born under the initiative of the Federal Government of Brazil, through the then Empresa de Planejamento e Logística (EPL), with the aim of providing rigorous, updated, and accessible information to facilitate decision-making in transport and logistics.

Ineco actively participated in its design and development, contributing the experience of the Transport and Logistics Observatory in Spain (OTLE), transferring the knowledge acquired in technical exchange seminars in 2015.

Subsequently, Ineco collaborated with a multidisciplinary team made up of technicians located in Brazil and Spain in defining the database, the system of indicators, and the model for information collection and analysis that today constitute the core of the ONTL.

During the commemorative event held in Brasilia by the public company Infra S.A., José Batlles, Brazil Account Director at Ineco at the time of the creation of the ONTL, was responsible for delivering a message about Ineco's role in this project. "We had the luck and privilege of collaborating with the EPL in the creation of the ONTL, and we are very proud to see it grow and establish itself as a true centre of knowledge for the transport sector in Brazil."

Today, Brazil has a platform that integrates more than 60 institutional partners and 250 data sets, allowing planners, researchers, and the general public to access key information for the improvement of the national transport network.

The portal also includes interactive panels, modernised simulators, and user-friendly tools, reinforcing its role as an instrument of transparency and strategic planning in the logistics and transport field.

Commemorative event

The anniversary of the ONTL brought together representatives from the Ministry of Transport of Brazil, Infra S.A., the National Land Transport Agency, the National Confederation of Transport, and international organisations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

During the event, a documentary web series about the history of the observatory was presented, featuring the participation of Ineco. The web series is available on Infra's official YouTube channel and reviews the evolution of the observatory and its role in the digital transformation of the sector.
