Ineco celebrated International Women's Day by highlighting the diversity of women in the company with the event "Many women. One Equality".

Marta Serrano, Secretary General for Land Transport, attended the event, which highlighted the company's commitment to equality through the testimonies of four Ineco professionals and their different realities. Victoria Salas, who has had a long career, Carolina Martínez, a colleague and member of the Equal Opportunities Plan, Elena Curto, a volunteer with the Horizonte programme against violence against women, and Noemí Romero, Manager of Conventional Network Maintenance and Ineco's Regional Manager in Galicia, took part in a round table discussion on the issues that still need to be addressed in order to achieve real equality. These women represent some of the many realities of Ineco's female colleagues and reflect the company's commitment to diversity, as demonstrated last January with the launch of the Equal Plan for Social and Work Integration, a tool to promote real equality of opportunity.

Ineco's President, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, opened the event by highlighting the importance of taking action to make up for lost time in terms of equality: "At Ineco, we have managed to ensure that 39% of our team is made up of women and 50% of promotions to positions in management structures".

Since 2023, Ineco has implemented positive discrimination measures for women in its recruitment and promotion processes, and has increased women's salaries by 2% compared to men's in both processes. As a result, the pay gap between men and women has decreased by more than 0.9 points to 11.73% at the end of 2023. Over the past year and a half, the representation of women in Ineco's leadership and management positions has increased by almost 10 points, from less than 30% at the beginning of 2022 to almost 40% today, a figure that is in line with the representation of women in the overall workforce and significantly higher than the percentage of women in technical professions (around 25%).

The Secretary General for Land Transport concluded the event by pointing out that: "We need to be aware of how far we still have to go. Hopefully we won't have to ask for 8M and it will be a day to celebrate, although we are still a long way off. We have a long way to go in the world of engineering and we have a problem attracting female talent to the sector and a fundamental lack of female role models.

Commitment to equality

The company's commitment to gender equality in engineering and consulting is also reflected in initiatives such as the Horizons Programme against Gender Violence, which allows nine professionals to develop their careers within the company, or the Mujeres In Programme, which aims to promote the personal and professional development of women and is now in its sixth edition, with fifty Ineco women already having participated.

Other actions carried out by the company include the launch of the Ineco ConCIENCIA programme, which will soon begin its second edition, with the aim of promoting STEAM careers and thus contributing to reducing the existing gender gap in these disciplines. Thanks to the women of Ineco, more than 2,400 students from 26 educational centres have already been inspired.

It is also worth noting the consolidation of the Minerva network, which is about to celebrate its second year of existence and is one of the most active in the sector, currently comprising more than 60 professionals.
