To mark International Women’s Day, the Colegio de Ingenieros Técnicos de Obras Públicas (CITOP) held a tribute event honouring the pioneering women of Civil Engineering, as part of its Pioneras Project—an initiative aimed at highlighting the stories and achievements of women who have made a significant impact in the profession.

The event featured the participation of Silvia Casado, Deputy Director of Projects, who took part in a round-table discussion alongside two other leading professionals in the sector. During the conversation, the speakers shared their experiences and reflections on the paths they have followed throughout their careers, as well as the challenges and progress made in advancing equality within civil engineering.

Following the event, Silvia Casado received a special recognition from Maribel Santos, expert in Digital Engineering and BIM and board member of CITOP, acknowledging her work as a pioneer in Civil Engineering. This distinction forms part of CITOP’s ongoing efforts to shine a light on the crucial role of women in the profession.

The Pioneras Project celebrates the talent, trajectory and contributions of women who have opened doors in civil engineering, helping to inspire new generations of professionals.
