Meet Ineco’s Noise Team in This Video

December 5, 2025

In an increasingly urbanised world, where transport and human activity are fundamental drivers of development, environmental noise has become one of the main challenges for achieving healthier and more sustainable environments. For more than 20 years, Ineco has been a leader in Spain in the study, management and mitigation of noise generated by infrastructures, applying innovative solutions that improve the quality of life of millions of people.
Aware of this impact, Ineco has set up a highly specialised team of more than 25 professionals who analyse and mitigate the noise impact of linear and airport infrastructures. Its work extends from the initial phases of plans, programmes and projects to more advanced stages, assessing the acoustic impact and designing corrective measures adapted to each environment, such as acoustic screens for roads and railways, sound-absorbing asphalt, and insulation systems in exposed buildings.

At the service of the Public Administration
Ineco works closely with public administrations to comply with the Noise Law, providing technical assistance in the preparation, harmonisation and supervision of Strategic Noise Maps (SRM) and their corresponding Action Plans. These maps allow the identification and evaluation of noise exposure in:
•    Roads with more than 3 million vehicles per year
•    Railway lines with more than 30,000 annual traffic movements
•    Airports with more than 50,000 operations a year
This technical work, essential for territorial and urban planning, also helps to make informed decisions on the design or extension of infrastructures, as well as to establish acoustic easements that guarantee the protection of the most exposed people.

Airport activity generates one of the most significant acoustic impacts. For more than 25 years, Ineco has been carrying out aeronautical noise studies for the main actors in the Spanish public sector: AENA, ENAIRE and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Ineco’s international expansion has brought its expertise in noise assessment and management to strategic projects such as the Master Plan for Riga International Airport, the Development Master Programs for GAP’s 12 airports in Mexico, and the UK’s high-speed rail network HS2, where it has served as an acoustics specialist

Ineco's work ranges from the planning of new airports to studies associated with expansion projects. This includes the development of noise footprints and their integration into airport SRMs and Action Plans.
One of the most outstanding projects is the comprehensive management of the Sound Insulation Plans (PAA) in the airport environment. These plans consist of soundproofing homes and buildings located within the acoustic footprint generated by air operations. Ineco, in collaboration with AENA, manages from the Technical Office the necessary actions to guarantee that thousands of homes can maintain their acoustic comfort compatible with airport operations.

Innovation to Hear the Future
Ineco's commitment to innovation is reflected in its participation in R&D&I projects with universities and technology centres. Within this framework, the company has developed pioneering procedures for measuring noise in port environments, a particularly complex area due to the diversity of sound sources (loading operations, machinery, ship traffic).
In addition, the Noise team has internally promoted a project to improve the traceability and management of acoustic data. This tool has optimised collaboration between technical areas and has contributed to greater efficiency and precision in studies, consolidating Ineco as a benchmark in advanced acoustic analysis.
