Ineco has participated in the Conference on Digital Transformation of Transport Routes and Biodiversity Management promoted by the Habitat Fragmentation Working Group of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITERD).

Held in Valladolid, it is established as a reference forum for the exchange of knowledge between administrations, research centres, specialised companies, and operators in the transport sector.

In this context, Ineco, in collaboration with ADIF Alta Velocidad and Indra, presented the paper “New techniques for monitoring the barrier effect on fauna caused by linear infrastructures. The Otero de Bodas ecoduct.” Joaquín Cuenca, Ineco's coordinator for biodiversity at AT Adif Alta Velocidad, showcased the pilot experience developed on the Olmedo–Ourense High-Speed Line, focused on the use of video surveillance technologies to monitor the passage of fauna in the ecoduct located in the municipality of Otero de Bodas (Zamora).

The presentation detailed the video monitoring system implemented, which allows real-time monitoring of the use of the structure by wildlife. The first results obtained demonstrate the high functionality of the ecoduct as an ecological corridor, with the daily passage of more than 50 deer being recorded, in addition to other species, which evidences its effectiveness in reducing the barrier effect of the railway infrastructure.

More than 150 national and international professionals gathered at this biennial edition, which addressed the challenges and opportunities of making transport infrastructure compatible with biodiversity conservation.
