UNED Hosts an Ineco Lecture on the Impact of Climate Change on Transport
Marta Gutiérrez, Ineco’s expert in Climate Change and Energy Transition, took part as a guest speaker on the Master’s Degree in Climate Change Management at the National University of Distance Education (UNED), where she analysed the challenges that climate change already poses for transport infrastructure.
The session, titled “Impact of Climate Change on Transport Infrastructure”, highlighted that the effects of climate change are not a future threat but a present reality that is already shaping the design, management and operation of mobility infrastructure. In this context, Gutiérrez stressed the need to integrate mitigation, adaptation and resilience throughout the entire lifecycle of assets.
Her lecture included practical examples across different transport modes, such as ports, airports, railways and roads. In the latter field, Gutiérrez outlined the development of the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the State Road Network—an essential tool for anticipating risks and strengthening the resilience of the national road system.
