Núria Albó is an an example that it's never too late to do what you’re truly passionate about. This computer scientist currently works at Ineco within the project for the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, but her professional career began very differently. She has just been recognised by the LaIA 2025 List as one of the 55 women leaders in the ICT field in Catalonia.
Back in the day, when Núria finished her degree in computer systems, she gave up pursuing that path to meet the needs of the family business: "It was a kitchenware shop and I was in charge of customer service and international purchases, also dealing with something related to computing because I managed the stock."
After years in the business, "there were different generational viewpoints and I moved to a lift company where I dedicated myself to customer service, but I looked at the ICT department and thought... that's where I should be." Driven by that desire, she realised she needed to update herself to return to the computing field and that she should commit to training in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Advancing towards her goals, Núria Albó is now developing projects as a data scientist at Ineco in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence. She believes she is fortunate because "this project forces me to keep up with the latest technologies and I have also been selected to provide AI training within Ineco."
She admits that for her "it is an honour to receive this recognition in Catalonia considering the career change I made at the age of 40" and believes that in order to continue promoting women's careers in fields where their presence is very low, "we must continue to value the women who are already gaining visibility in the sector and create a support system, as well as starting from the base with girls and young women who have to decide what to do with their future."
