Ineco has been present at the technical conference "Infrastructure Resilience in the Face of Climate Change", organised by the In-Move cluster, a benchmark in rail and multimodal logistics mobility in Spain.

The meeting, held at the College of Civil Engineers of Barcelona, brought together experts and institutional representatives to address the challenges posed by climate change in the planning, design, and operation of transport infrastructures. In this context, Elena Curto, Climate Change and Energy Transition manager at Ineco, delivered a lecture focused on the company's experience and vision regarding climate resilience applied to all modes of transport.

During her speech, she emphasised that "extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense, which requires a 'global and cross-cutting' response that combines adaptation with mitigation measures and energy transition.

Ineco has been working for over a decade alongside public administrations in assessing the vulnerability and risks of climate change on key infrastructures. Among the highlighted projects, Curto pointed out those related to vulnerability and risk studies against change carried out for Adif, Aena or the Directorate General of Roads.  Also, the climate test of the Rail Baltica corridor in northern Europe or the technical support for the implementation of climate proofing in infrastructures of the Xunta de Galicia and the Principality of Asturias.

In addition, she presented some of the innovative initiatives that the company promotes to increase technical knowledge, such as the use of AI for the characterisation and classification of climate incidents on infrastructures, the prediction of the probability and severity of forest fires, or the use of satellite images for the monitoring of slopes.
