Ineco marked the International Day for the Rights of LGTBIQ+ People with an institutional event held under the theme “Diversity Unites Us, Inclusion Transforms Us”. The gathering reaffirmed the company’s commitment to fostering inclusive, respectful and safe working environments for all.
The event featured participation from Ineco’s President, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, who emphasised that the company “delivers on diversity, in a country that is itself at the forefront”. However, he cautioned that “human progress is not a straight line, and we must always be ready to defend freedom and respect for every individual”. He also underlined the importance of workplace environments that prioritise emotional wellbeing, highlighting in this regard the contribution of Iris, Ineco’s LGTBIQ+ Diversity Network, and thanking its members for their “work, enthusiasm and drive”.
The session also reviewed the evolution of the diversity network, which is celebrating its third anniversary and has established itself as an open space for support, visibility and awareness within the organisation. Driven by employees and allies alike, the network promotes values such as respect, tolerance and equality, while helping to build a more inclusive corporate culture.
The event included a panel discussion on how diversity and inclusion can transform organisations, and showcased several initiatives developed by the company in recent years. Among these is the achievement of the Diversity Leading Company certification, recognising Ineco’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as a series of awareness-raising initiatives for staff. Notably, these include the talk “Actions That Change the World”, delivered in collaboration with Fundación 26 de Diciembre, which focused on the realities and vulnerabilities of older LGTBIQ+ people, a group that often remains overlooked.
Through initiatives such as these, and with the support of networks like IRIS, Ineco continues to move towards a more open and participatory corporate culture, where everyone can develop their talent in an environment founded on respect, equal opportunities and diversity as a source of value.
