The gala was held at the Teatro Real in Madrid
The Pajares Bypass has been recognised by the Caminos Foundation with the Segovia Aqueduct Award for Public Works and the Environment. A project in which Ineco has actively collaborated for Adif and which has made it possible to connect territories through high-speed rail.
Celestino Rodriguez, Corporate Coordination Executive Director, was in charge of collecting the diploma accrediting our participation in this great Spanish engineering project, where he highlighted the talent and role that Ineco's professionals play in resolving technical challenges such as the Pajares Bypass. He did so during the gala that the Fundación Caminos held at the Teatro Real in Madrid, where a total of 17 awards were presented in 8 categories that recognise the work of outstanding civil engineers in different fields, as well as the excellence of important projects of companies and institutions and the work of the new generations of young people.
The so-called Pajares Bypass is a 49-kilometre railway section that has allowed the high-speed railway to be extended towards Asturias. To achieve this, it has been necessary to build a twin-tube tunnel in Pajares, between Pola de Gordón (León) and Telledo (Asturias), which, with a length of 25 kilometres, are the seventh longest railway tunnels in Europe.
Ineco has been involved in the development of the Bypass since the first feasibility studies. Among the numerous projects undertaken by the company, notable highlights include the Informative Study, the basic design, project management and supervision, the drafting of supplementary and waterproofing works projects, the development of fire resistance studies, and the preparation of construction plans for emergency exits in the Pico de Siero and Vega del Ciego tunnels.
A major engineering project in which more than 200 Ineco professionals have contributed their experience and technical knowledge in different phases of the project. In the execution phase, the company has also been in charge of tasks such as assistance and control of platform works, track assembly, supplies or technical assistance for the control of works on interlocking installations, train protection systems and telecommunications, on-site traffic control and commissioning, among other functions.
