III Global Forum on Engineering and Public Works

Events

Ineco participated in the III Global Forum on Engineering and Public Works held this past 27th and 28th of June in Santander. This edition sought to increase the visibility of emblematic works, both in construction and engineering, and especially to digital content, which are planned and designed using new technologies and cutting-edge services for smart cities and infrastructures.

Ignacio Fernández-Cuenca, General Director of Development and Sustainability; and Casimiro Iglesias, Director of Aeronautical and Intermodal Business, represented Ineco at this event.  In his presentation, dedicated to the digital transformation of our company, Ignacio Fernández-Cuenca noted the importance of this process as a key goal for Ineco, providing many examples of its implementation. Meanwhile, Casimiro Iglesias participated in the round table, “Innovation: transition to a decarbonized and smart road network,” where he stressed that “reducing greenhouse gas emissions is one of the major challenges of road transport.”

Organized by the Caminos Foundation, in collaboration with the UIMP (Menéndez Pelayo International University), this event brought together leading figures from the engineering and construction sector, including Manuel Niño, General Secretary of Infrastructures; and Juan A. Santamera, President of the Caminos Foundation and the Association of Civil Engineers. Julio Gómez-Pomar, Secretary of State for Infrastructures, delivered the inaugural speech on the second day of the forum, where he made special mention of the transport and infrastructure innovation plan currently being carried out by Ineco.  He also spoke of the digital challenges being faced by the Ministry as it adapts to BIM methodology, the sensorisation of infrastructures, the use of Big Data and the use of drones in its development tasks.

As in previous editions, the Forum had an exhibition dedicated to international works, promoting the achievements of Spanish companies.  Because of their technological potential, the works represent the ideal opportunity to spread the messages of leadership and innovation that the Foundation promotes.
